Wednesday July 5, 2006 @ 8:30 pm EST - Interview with Karen Heflin-Turcotte, President and Founder of Families
Support Our Troops, Co-Owner/Moderator of the FSOT Yahoo Mailing Group,
and Co-Owner/Moderator for FamilesSupportOurTroops.com. I am also a charter
member of the Silver Star Families. I oversee fundraising, distribution,
and mailing and individual support for Families Support Our Troops. FSOT
consists of families and individuals wishing to support our US Military
personnel. Some of the families have direct ties to the military while others
are just looking to do what they can to help. People from all walks of life
have given what they can. FSOT currently supports over 600 hundred of our
troops around the World.
FSOT provides care packages, cards, get-well packages, holiday items, motivational
items, books, movies, neck coolers...and basically anything a troop may
need and/or want.
FSOT was started as a support for me and my family while my son "GW" was
deployed during the beginning of the war. It soon grew as I saw that there
were so many that needed support from a "family" We now have members spread
over the USA and even from Canada! We offer suport to our troops, to their
familys and to our wounded. Basically we are a group of proud Americans
that love God and Country. We are not 501c but any and all money recieved
from the group goes back into support our troops 100%.
I started sending cross necklaces to any of our deployed troops. This started
when my own son and his buddies asked for one when I started making them.
Soon I was getting request from soldiers from everywhere. Now any deployed
troop that would like a cross gets one sent to them.
