Imagine our troops serving in Iraq, far from home. They live each day worried about what could happen. They do their jobs, while missing their families and losing time spent with their children and loved ones back home. Many have children they haven't even seen yet. In a rare quiet moment, one pauses and wonders if anyone back home really cares about what they are doing for the sake of freedom. Does anyone really understand the risk and the sacrifices?
In 2003 artist Kory Brunson wrote a song titled "We Know You're Out There (A Message To Our Troops)". He had been hit with the reality of being a new father and with the realization that other parents send their sons and daughters into combat areas to protect the country his child will sleep in each night.
Since the songs release in 2004 it has been played on radio stations around the country, including Denver's own KYGO.
In January of 2007, the Pentagon paid tribute to the songs message by posting it on their website www.americasupportsyou.mil.
Although honored by the Pentagons affirmation of the song, Kory has been burdened by the fact that it's message is just not getting to those for whom it was written. Soldiers in the field.
SO......Working with Leo Pacheco of Beacon Of Hope Outreach, the "100,000 Heroes" campaign was launched.
Our mission is to "Get this song and it's important message into the hands of combat soldiers on a massive scale".
Partnering with Beacon Of Hope in Denver and piggy backing on another care package campaign with "Operation Gratitude" in California, distribution is in place and postage is already paid to send 100,000 copies of this song to soldiers in combat areas in Iraq and Afghanistan.
All we need to do is manufacture the discs.
The cost is 35 cents per disc. (4 color print disc in a durable clam shell case).
For 35 cents we can reach and encourage one soldier in the field, and that soldier can keep the disc for life. A pretty good return on a 35 cent investment.
Our goal is to raise the $35,000 needed to manufacture 100,000 copies of this song so it can be sent to soldiers in Iraq, Afghanistan, and wounded warriors at Walter Reed Hospital.
Our hope is that our message of support will be bellowed out on such a massive scale that every active duty man and women in uniform will hear it loud and clear...."Hey guys, we know you're out there".
